PathPresenter Receives FDA 510(k) Clearance for Digital Pathology Clinical Viewer

Regulatory milestone clears product for use in primary diagnosis

PathPresenter (www.pathpresenter.com), a leading Image Management System and workflow platform for digital pathology, has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for the PathPresenter Clinical Viewer for the purpose of primary diagnosis. This clearance has been issued for use with the Hamamatsu NanoZoomer S360MD Slide scanner NDPI image formats viewed on the Barco NV MDPC-8127 display device. 

The Clinical Viewer is a key part of PathPresenter’s vendor-agnostic digital pathology image management system (IMS), a comprehensive platform that includes not just slide viewing, but also workflow management, case tracking, image storage and archiving, integration with laboratory information systems (LIS), multi-user access, collaboration tools, and integrated remote second opinion capability.

CAP Announces Immersive “AI Playground” Powered by PathPresenter

Exploring AI in Digital Pathology

On June 5th the College of American Pathologists (CAP) announced a first of its kind immersive AI platform where CAP members can test drive a broad slate of fully functional, cutting-edge AI tools from multiple AI vendors and institutions, in realistic scenarios with real whole slide images. PathPresenter is proud to be the platform that powers this groundbreaking “AI Playground” initiative.

The CAP platform will provide CAP members a safe, simulated space to explore cutting-edge AI tools used in pathology. From image analysis to diagnostic support, pathologists will be able to interact with models in realistic patient scenarios without impacting care.

“It’s no risk, no pressure. Just discovery,” said CAP President Donald Karcher, MD, FCAP. “This initiative is about giving pathologists a trusted environment to evaluate new tools and stay in control of how technology fits into pathology practice.”

Designed as both an educational tool and a discovery hub, the platform will use a PathPresenter environment with AI models from multiple industry-leading vendors directly integrated, giving pathologists the opportunity to test-drive multiple AI approaches in real-world contexts. Pathologists will be able to engage with real models, not just screenshots or quick demos. It’s designed to meet the growing demand for meaningful, hands-on exploration of AI tools in a setting that supports learning and confidence. The platform will launch at the CAP25 event September 13-16.

A plea to all the AI companies in the world: If You Think a Booth Demo Is Enough to Win Healthcare, Think Again!
